How does this work?
Currently all of the World of Warcraft guild ranking sites that I've seen have required consistent updates on the guild's part in order to show progress in relation to other guilds. I really wanted to come up with a comprehensive scoring system that ranked a guild's progression without needing regular updates on the player's part. WowJutsu's scoring system is based on the loot that the people in any given guild have received. This means that I can track progress through the armory, without needing any guild submissions.

Won't a player from a higher guild moving to a lower guild skew the scores?
Not normally. When WowJutsu finds gear for the first time on a player it attributes that gear to the guild the player was in at that time. This means that when a player in a higher ranked guild leaves to go to a lower ranked guild that their points will not transfer over with them - they will stay with the guild. However, if the player in question is actually a server transfer then this poses another problem entirely, but we are working towards a way to handle these situations.

How do I improve my guild's score?
The most effective way to boost your guild's score is to progress further in end-game content. By killing new bosses and venturing into more difficult instances you will gradually make your way up the ladder.

Why are some guilds that have killed the same bosses ranked differently?
The minor difference in score between these guilds is based on the number of times they've killed certain bosses, or the amount of loot they've received from said bosses. This function was mainly implemented as a way to subtly sort between similar ranked guilds as opposed to just listing alphabetically.

Can't my guild keep farming easy bosses to significantly boost our score?
While your score does increase as your guild gathers more loot, these numbers are minimal and it is not an effective way to advance in the ranks. Specifically, a piece of loot from any given boss is only worth (on the order of) one one-thousandth the number of points as the boss itself.

What happens when my guild disbands?
When a guild completely disbands (meaning no longer shows up on armory) then it will be removed from the list, but if a guild just experiences a mass exodus it may still stay on the list if enough people remain within the guild. However, if you plan on reforming under a new name you will have to re-earn your rank over time, as the points for your gear do not transfer over. This was done as a way to prevent potential skewing of the system should one person leave a higher ranked guild and join a lower one, causing them to look as though they've killed bosses that they actually haven't.

Why is my guild not on the list?
There are a few reasons why a guild might not show up in the list:
  • Most commonly your guild is simply not on the list yet. Click here to add your guild to the queue.
  • A guild must have a score of 10 or higher to make it on the lists. This usually boils down to your guild being about half way through Karazhan.
  • If your guild has less than 10 level 70 members then it won't be included.

Why didn't my guild get credit for a kill?
There are a few of reasons why this could happen. The first being that WowJutsu just hasn't updated your guild yet, be patient and it will show up within a few days. Another possibility is that WowJutsu updated your guild's page, but the armory was not up to date at the time. Again just be patient with this and it will show up. The third reason is that the armory does not currently show your guild members wearing the loot from the boss. Unless your guildies are always equipped in a wedding dress and a rockethelm the armory will pick up your loot eventually. Again just be patient.

How does WowJutsu handle guild alliances?
Currently we do not have support for guild alliances as there is no way for us to know whether guilds are raiding together based on armory information alone. We've seen a large amount of interest from people wanting us to implement support for these situations. As a result, we're tinkering with some ideas for making this a feature in the future.

How often does it update?
At the speed that our crawlers are currently running, it takes approximately one week for a guild to be updated. There are however a few exceptions to this rule. My realm - Bloodscalp (US) - is updated daily, as are the top 500 unlocked guilds from each region. We update these guilds more regularly because their final rank is based on the date that they've cleared BC content, and we would like for that information to be as accurate as possible. Once a guild has been "starred" it will be put back into the normal queue.

Is there a way to force an update on my guild?
Yes, there is. If you notice that your guild has not been updated for 4 or more days, you have the option of queuing yourself for a manual update here. Please note that this will not be an instant scan and it may actually take several hours for the changes to appear on the site.

Why do you have ads on the site?
The ads are here to help cover the server costs associated with this site. I'm trying to filter out gold-selling sites and other non-compliant sites from being able to show ads here, but there's a whole lot of them and it takes several hours for each change to the filter to go into effect. If you see any gold selling or power leveling ads please feel free to send the domain to us at feedback@wowjutsu.com so that we can add the site to our ever-growing filter list.
